When you first launch the Witness Trainer, you will see the Master Map. You will see six Area Maps. You will choose an area where you want to witness. There are thirty-two people to visit in total.
In this case we have chosen the Hospital Complex map as indicated by the yellow colored mouse cursor.
If you launch the Witness Trainer using Internet Explorer, you may see a warning that prevents scripts from running. You must click the 'Allow blocked content' button to continue.
Since the Witness Trainer uses your internet browser to play, it tracks your progress using your History and cookies. You must allow cookies for the tracking to work, and allow you to stop and resume your training. If you do not use these, or us a browser that does not use cookies, such as Brave, you will launch the Witness Trainer from the beginning every time. If you see the box stating: 'Would you like to resume where you left off?' you must click the 'Yes' button to do so. Clicking the 'No' button restarts the Witness Trainer from the beginning.
Each Area Map has five or six Witness Locations represented by a photograph of the location with a red frame around it. The red frame indicates you have never visited or witnessed to the person at that location.
You can return to the Master Map by clicking the “Return to Master Map” button in the lower-left corner of the map.
The frame will turn yellow if you have visited with a person, and this person remains unconverted to Christ.
The frame will turn green if you have visited with a person, and the person has accepted Jesus as Lord, and is converted.
When you click on a Witness Location, you will meet a person with whom you can share Christ and the Gospel. In our example you have just met Julie and introduced yourself. This Introduction page has a few features to note.
On the Introduction page you will see a button in a pale red color. You can return to the Area Map by clicking on the “Click here to return to the Map” button.
Most scene pages have a Page Instruction box in the upper-left corner. This will inform you of the action you must take to move forward. These instruction boxes are usually a pale red color as well.
As instructed by the Page Instruction box, you should click on the “Your Conversation Opener” button to take you to the Response page.
The Response page displays your Conversation Opener in the blue-to-red box. There is also the person’s “Response” button.
You should use a Conversation Opener to break the ice, and to put the person you have met at ease at bit. You can mention an object in the surroundings, or the even weather in order to open an easy conversation.
You should click on the “Response” button to read the response to your Conversation Opener. You can read the response in the blue box.
You will click on the “Your Follow Up” button to see the summation of your ending comments.
You must always remember your purpose, and will want to transition to your witness. Typically, you should not spend more than five minutes in your introductory discussion, but you do not want to abruptly cut off the other person while he or she is speaking.
After reading the introduction summation, you will click the “Conversation Transition” button to choose a sample transition statement or question.
When you come to the Conversation Transition page, you will have sixteen possible transitions. The red box instructs you to choose a conversation transition. To read a full Conversation Transition, you can click on a purple “Conversation Transition” button. In this example we click on the top-left button.
These sixteen Conversation Transitions are offered as examples. When you witness to others, feel free to modify these or compose your own. It is key that you feel comfortable when you transition to your witness for Christ.
You can now read the full Conversation Transition. In this example, it is a question. If you like the Conversation Transition, you will click the “Answer” button.
If you do not like the Conversation Transition, you can click the red "Choose a different Conversation Opener” button to return to the Conversation Transition page with the purple buttons.
There are two possible outcomes after clicking an “Answer” button.
The first possible outcome is that your witness is rejected; by being sent to a Take Your Leave page. Clicking on the “Take Your Leave” button will take you back to the Area Map.
Some people get nervous, or may have had an unpleasant experience with someone witnessing to him or her. You should thank the person for their time, and hand the person a tract with a smile.
You can never know if you will have another chance to witness to the same person, and you do not want to leave the person bitter, ruining another Christian’s chance to witness for Christ.
The other possible outcome after clicking an “Answer” button is a positive or neutral answer that allows you to continue your conversation.
You will want to click the “Continue the conversation by answering questions” button.
You will come to the Four Questions page. The first three questions are the same for each person. You will click on the four “Question” buttons in sequence.
Clicking on the first “Question” button, “Who is Jesus, in your opinion?” will reveal the person’s answer in a red panel.
The “Continue Conversation” button will not work until the four questions are answered. When active, the “Continue Conversation” button will change color from purple to blue.
When the “Continue Conversation” button is blue, click it. Just like the Conversation Transition page, there is a chance that the person will no longer wish to speak with you, ending your conversation.
The Four Questions are very important. Asking and getting answers for these questions will give you a measure of where the person is spiritually. It is very important that you let the person answer without interruption. It is also important to avoid answering his or her incorrect doctrine at this time. The Four Questions will help you determine if the person is ‘clueless pagan,’ a brother or sister in Christ, or even a committed member of a cult. Let them talk without judgment. You will be able to give the person the truth shortly.
You can now choose a testimony from one of the fourteen samples. Move your mouse cursor over the “Testimony Sample” buttons to display the sample testimony in the area between the two columns of buttons. When you find a testimony you like, click on the “Testimony Sample” button. You do not need to click on the Testimony itself.
When you witness, you should give your actual testimony. Keep your testimony short, and focus on what Jesus has done for you. You do not want to spend considerable time going back into your past, nor do you want to dwell on the ugliness of sin in your past. What people find compelling is what Jesus has done for you, and if He can do a similar work in their life. It is enough to mention that Jesus has rescued you from a life of sin. Again, focus on Jesus and what He means to your life.
Throughout the rest of this witness exercise, the person you are witnessing to has two possible outcomes after each ‘Decision Point’, beginning with giving a testimony. There is a possibility the person will be compelled by the Holy Spirit to accept Christ.
When a person desires to be saved, you must verify it. Click on the “Confirm His or Her Desire” button to do this.
You will now reach the Confirmation page. There are five statements of belief that you will want to review with your new convert, to verify he or she understands the basics of the Gospel. You will click on the five “Gospel Facts” buttons which will change from yellow to green, confirming each truth. Doing this in sequence helps build a logical flow of truth. Once this is done, the “Desire Confirmed” button will change color from purple to gold.
The “Desire Confirmed” button will not work until you have verified each Gospel Fact. Once activated, clicking it will take you back to your current Area Map.
It is very important to review these facts of the Gospel, even if your convert is responding directly to a Gospel Road (show later). You want the convert to have assurance for the future, and this review will reduce the chance the person is involved in an “easy beliefism” just to make you feel better or to leave them alone. People can be insincere, and only the Holy Spirit knows the actual condition of their heart. You restating the Gospel can assist the new convert in knowing the foundation of their faith is Christ.
The other possible outcome after each Decision Point, beginning with giving a testimony, is a ‘soft rejection’. The person will state a doctrinal belief or opinion that allows you to continue your conversation. This exercise limits you eight ‘soft-rejections’ per person. The ninth rejection is a final rejection for your visit, but you can revisit a person multiple times.
Your first step after the rejection of your testimony is to give the person a Gospel Road. You reach the first step by clicking the “Give a Gospel Road” button.
This is the Gospel broken down into four main points, starting with the fact that “Everyone is sinner, guilty before God.” Each of the four Gospel pages operate the same, and is similar to the Testimony page. You move your mouse cursor over the “Scripture” buttons to display the scripture in the area between the two columns of buttons. When you find a scripture you would like to give, click on the button. You do not need to click on the scripture itself.
You will note that there are many Gospel Roads you can use, in fact, there 7,290 combinations in this exercise. God’s Word does not have such a low limit, and you may find it best to memorize a simple ‘Roman’s Road.’ Often, people will need more than one verse to establish a Bible doctrine, or you may find a person will need to see Gospel in the Old Testament. These additional ‘Roads’ are presented to reinforce the truths of the Gospel.
You can see in these exercises that a Testimony always precedes the Gospel Road. This is strictly to have a consistent format for these exercises. In real life witnessing, many people prefer to give the Gospel first, and a testimony later, if needed. Please do as led by the Holy Spirit.
When you choose an appropriate “Everyone is sinner, guilty before God” scripture, you will be sent to the “God judges all sinners, who are utterly destroyed” page. When you find a scripture you would like to give, click on the button.
When you choose an appropriate “God judges all sinners, who are utterly destroyed” scripture, you will be sent to the “Jesus paid for all sins and is the way of salvation” page. When you find a scripture you would like to give, click on the button.
Finally when you choose an appropriate “Jesus paid for all sins and is the way of salvation” scripture, you will be sent to the “You need faith alone in Jesus” page. When you find a scripture you would like to give, click on the button.
Not all of the sixteen scriptures in each Gospel Road fact are part of a Gospel Road. If you choose a verse unrelated to the portion of the Gospel Road you want to prove, you will be sent to a Wrong Choice page. Clicking the large button on this page sends you back so you can choose another scripture.
After you have chosen an appropriate “You need faith alone in Jesus” scripture, you will be sent to the Road Question page. This page has a statement and a question you will ask the person to whom you are witnessing. These are in the blue-to-red box.
It is very important that you re-state the key facts of the Gospel, even if the person read the scripture him or herself, as is best. This will bring out the logic and simplicity of the Gospel.
Most important is that after you ask if he or she “would like to accept His offer of grace?” you do not speak until he or she answers. While the silence is uncomfortable, your silence will allow the Holy Spirit to focus their attention on the truth of their spiritual condition. You can think or say a silent prayer, but do not be the first to speak. If you are the one to break the silence, your words could override the ‘still, small voice” of God.
If you make the mistake of speaking, do not despair. The Holy Spirit can still use your witness in a powerful way.
Click on the “Answer” button to read a response. This is a major Decision Point.
If the person to whom you are witnessing rejects the presentation of the Gospel, he or she will often resort to a Statement of Belief or question. You will see the statement in a ‘speech bubble’ on the Statement pages.
Some of the Statement pages will have one or two “Additional Logic” panels. You can view the logic contained on the panel by moving your mouse cursor over it. These are not buttons, so clicking on them will have no effect.
These Additional Logic panels are given as a way to point out a logical inconsistency, or a line of thinking that can help serve as an apologetic answer. These do not link directly to any scriptures so they do not represent The Word of God.
On the right side of the page, you will see light purple “Logic” buttons. When you move your mouse cursor over a button, it will show the logic of how to answer the person’s statement Biblically. These are statements you can use to begin your Biblical answer of his or her statement. You can quickly mouse-over each button before clicking on any one button.
Clicking on a “Logic” button will show you a List of Scriptures page showing you scriptures that will answer their statement Biblically. The ‘thought bubble’ will show what the person could be thinking as you answer their statement.
You can click on the “Choose different reasoning” button to go back to the Statement page to investigate the scripture options given using a different “Logic” button.
The statements in the thought bubble can often serve as an additional logical answer to present to your witnessing subject. For example, in response to Julie’s statement about there being no absolute right or wrong, you can state that “We are given a list of sin to judge ourselves, and that everyone has sinned at some point.”
Once you click on a “Scripture” button you will be taken to the Bible with the verse displayed. You can read the Scripture and click the red “Choose a different scripture” button if you would like to read other scriptures. Clicking it will take you back to the List of Scriptures page.
If you like the scripture and would like to witness using it, you will click the green “Use this scripture” button. This takes you to another decision point where your witness subject will either decide to accept Christ as Savior or, he or she will give you another Statement of Belief displayed on a new Statement page.
There is a second type of Statement of Belief you will encounter. These pages have a “Click here to Conduct a Personal Bible Study” button.
You will click on the button to move to a Personal Bible Study page.
A Personal Bible Study page will have a ‘thought bubble’ stating what you are going to prove Biblically. There may or may not be an “Additional Logic” panel, and there will be between three and six “Scripture” buttons alongside a yellow summation panel stating what the Scripture will prove.
When you click on a “Scripture” button you will be taken to the Bible with the verse displayed. You will need to click on all of “Scripture” buttons. The “Scripture” buttons will change from light blue to green, confirming this truth. Doing this in sequence helps build a logical flow of the truth. Until you click on each scripture, the “Completed Bible Study” button will not work.
These Personal Bible Study pages are an effective approach to Biblical witnessing. You are answering a person’s objection or statement from the Bible using multiple scriptures, and from more than one aspect. The same effect can be accomplished in real life witnessing by giving scripture from each Logic Answer area, thus you should be able to answer any objection Biblically with not just two or three verses, but with many.
You can read the Scripture and click the purple “Continue Bible Study” button to take you back to the Personal Bible Study page.
Once you have read all of the Scriptures, and all of the “Scripture” buttons are green, the “Continue Bible Study” button will change color from blue to green, and become active. Clicking on it will now send you to a decision point where your witness subject will either decide to accept Christ as Savior or, he or she will give you another Statement of Belief displayed on a new Statement page.
Some of the Statement pages will have one or two “Scripture” buttons below the “Logic” buttons. These are considered Perfect Answer Scriptures, and the buttons will have a yellow outer frame. These are usually scriptures not found under one of the existing “Logic” buttons.
Clicking on a Perfect Answer “Scripture” button will take you to the Bible, similar to other “Scripture” buttons. These Bible pages are different as the logic of using the verse is contained in the yellow “Perfect Answer” button at the top of the page.
The logic of using the Scripture is shown when you move your mouse cursor over the “Perfect Answer” button.
As with all other Bible pages, if you move your mouse over to the green “Use this scripture” button and click on it, you will be taken to a decision point where your witness subject will either decide to accept Christ as Savior or, he or she will give you another Statement of Belief displayed on a new Statement page.
You have the option of choosing another scripture by clicking on the “Choose a different scripture” button. Doing so will take you back to the Statement page and you can click on a “Logic” button to view other scriptures to use.
