Listen to Their Words

Learning how to answer a person’s objection Biblically is a simple process. This witness training is designed to take you through the thought process in a step-by-step method.  As an example, we will take a look at Megan’s statement in the ‘speech bubble’, “A good God would never send anyone to Hell.”

There are actually quite a few ways to give a Bible based, reasoned answer to this statement. Sometimes you can break the statements down almost word by word.  At other times you can take statements as a concept.

First Reasoning

Our first thought or reasoning might be to note that this statement is actually a judgment of God. You can see the Don’t Judge God “Logic” button is an option in the top right position. If you move your mouse cursor over the button you will see the underlying logic as a hint.

Second Reasoning

A second reasoning might be that anyone can avoid the fate of Hell by having faith in Jesus as Savior. This gives us the Anyone “Logic” button in the top left position.

A Third Reasoning

You could focus on why God sends any one individual to Hell. One aspect is that the Bible declares that evil exists, and that God will punish this evil. You could choose the Good and Evil “Logic” button if this approach is desired.

The Fourth Reasoning

The Law Condemns “Logic” button would be you choice if you prefer to use the Bible to show the person that each of us is condemned by the law.

The Fifth Reasoning

If you want to show a person the sins that the Bible calls out, you would use the List Of Sin “Logic” button. This would be ideal for showing a person Hell is deserved.

A Sixth Reasoning

You could decide to show a person that the Bible promises punishment. This can help the person see that future punishment is a promise by clicking on the Punishment “Logic” button.

A Seventh Reasoning

A related reasoned answer would be to show the person that the Bible promises that the unjust will be punished, which is a direct answer to Megan’s statement.

Overlapping Reasoning

Because the reasoning behind some of these “Logic” buttons are similar, and there are often overlapping truths, you will find that many of the same scriptures will be found as an option on multiple List of Scriptures pages. Such is the power of God’s Word, the Bible.

Choosing a Scripture

In our example, we will stress to Megan that Anyone can be saved, and go to Heaven.

You can see twenty four scriptures from which to choose. All of these verses show that anyone can be saved, and have the gift of salvation. Do not expect each verse to use the word ‘Anyone’. You may find the most common synonym is ‘Whosoever’. Some verses or passages will clearly state the truth of ‘anyone’, while a few others will show the truth by the context, or implication.

Reading the Scripture

You can click on any of the “Scripture” buttons and read the scripture, choosing whichever scripture you prefer to witness to a person.  In our example, we clicked on the John 3:36 “Scripture” button.

The Power of the Word of God

You will see the amazing power of the Bible when you consider the number doctrinal truths that a short passage or even a single verse will answer.  You will see John 3:36 is a scriptural answer to many doctrinal truths.

In our example, John 3:36 does meet the ‘Anyone’ requirement.  Think about it, “He that believeth on the Son hath everlasting life:” The only condition is that you believe. It is a solid statement of fact that any person can use to know he or she has everlasting life.

Other Scriptural Truths

You can click on any of the “Scripture” buttons and read the scripture, choosing whichever scripture you prefer to witness to a person.  In our example, we clicked on the John 3:36 “Scripture” button.

What other doctrinal truths can we prove using this scripture?  We will show you these using the “Logic” button keywords.

  • Faith Alone: You will notice again that the only condition stated is “He that believeth..”, and there is even a contrast of “he that believeth not..”. There are no sacraments or work involved.
  • Jesus the Way: Here you see, “believeth on the Son”, is the key.  It is the Son that is the key to everlasting life.
  • Belief In Jesus: This reasoning is a narrower set where “believeth on the Son” is specific.  It is not a matter of believing in a ‘higher power’ or God.
  • Wrath Abides: You can see that “he that believeth not the Son shall not see life; but the wrath of God abideth on him.” This wrath is already a guaranteed possession of the unbeliever. The judgment is sure, it is from God, and there will be no weighing of good deeds against the bad.
  • Sure: The key word is “hath”. It does not say ‘might have’ or ‘could have’, but hath. There is certainty in the fact this is a present possession.
  • Everlasting Life: The words “hath everlasting life” mean nothing if the life possessed is not “everlasting”. Those who think a person can lose his or her salvation or “shall not see life” are for those “that believeth not”. Once a person believes, he or she has everlasting life. To “believeth not” a person must never have believed.
  • Own Belief: Have you considered that for “He that believeth” or “he that believeth not” makes it a decision of each person’s heart? You cannot pray an unbelieving relative out of Hell, and getting baptized for the dead means nothing to God.
  • Two Paths: You can see this verse shows man only two destinies. There is either “everlasting life” or a person “shall not see life”. There is no option for Purgatory.

As you can see, John 3:36 answers many questions from “What must I do to be saved?” to “Can I know for sure I am going to Heaven?” and many in between. “It is the power of God unto salvation” Rom 1:16.
